FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be a deepfake.
Upon close analysis, the NM team identified several discrepancies, including noticeable lip-sync issues between the audio and visuals.
Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, we traced the original footage to a live stream on the official YouTube channel of Google India, broadcast on July 13, 2020. In this video, Sundar Pichai spoke at the Google for India event, announcing several initiatives for the country. Pichai’s appearance is visible between the 12:33 and 20:57 timestamps in the 57:46-minute stream.
Closely analysing both videos, we found that the visuals are quite identical, including Pichai’s clothing and the background. However, despite these similarities, the original video contains no mention of any investment platform.
Additionally, the deepfake analysis tool — TrueMedia’s deepfake detector — reveals strong evidence of manipulation, with a 100% confidence score indicating AI-generated audio. The tool also detected AI-driven alterations in up to 69% of the facial features in the video, further confirming the use of deepfake technology.
NewsMobile recently debunked such deepfake videos of Sudha Murthy and Sundar Pichai promoting investment platforms.
