NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we found a YouTube video, titled: #rajneeti #rio #buffalo 🐃#mythpath #trrigerdinsaan, published on an unverified channel on January 23, 2022. This indicates that the video has been online since January.
We could not see any Congress flags at the bottom of the video and the keyframes match exactly with the viral video. The text written on the YouTube clip differs as it states the buffaloes to be the voters and the men to be BSP leaders.
Another video, dated April 15, 2022, on an unverified Pakistani YouTube channel, with a title: Funny video#share #shorts #trending viral#shortsfeed#like#subscribe#funny#video, does not have any text, or the Congress flag on the video, but the keyframes match exactly with the viral clip.
We also came across a video, titled: #🤣ਜੁਗਾੜੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ🤣 #💰ਹਾਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਟਾਰਾ ##ramghariya sardar #😜 ਕਲੋਲਾਂ #😂 ਹਾਸੇ ਵੀਡੀਓਜ਼, on Sharechat — an Indian social media platform, published 10 months ago, and the Punjabi text on the video says: Congress went to ask for votes. Here too, we did not see any Congress flags in the bottom of the video.
Although we could not find the exact location of the viral clip, it is certain that it has been on the net since January 2022. The Gujarat Assembly elections took place in December 2022, so the video cannot be linked to the ongoing elections.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming a herd of buffaloes hit Congress workers during their Gujarat elections rally, is misleading.
