Against this backdrop, social media users are sharing the image of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav with MP Jaya Bachchan, claiming that Akhilesh kept his shoes on during his father’s funeral.
The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “ऐसी कपूत औलाद भगवान दुश्मन को भी ना दें, जो अपने बाप के अंतिम संस्कार में ना जूते उतारे ना जैकेट उतारे ना टोपी उतारे बल्कि जैकेट के ऊपर ही जनेऊ डालकर बड़ा नेता बनकर ही बाप का अंतिम संस्कार करता है। अपने बाप की अर्थी के सामने भी जो कपूत नेता बनकर खड़ा रहे ऐसे कपूत औलाद भगवान दुश्मन को भी न दे। मित्रो विधायक, सांसद, मंत्री, मुख्यमंत्री बनकर हजारों करोड़ की संपति अर्जित करके क्या फायदा? जब सगा बेटा अंतिम संस्कार भी ठीक से नहीं करे” (English translation: God should not give such a son to the enemy, who neither takes off his shoes nor takes off his jacket and cap at the funeral of his father, but performs the last rites of the father only by becoming a big leader by putting a thread on the jacket. Another image taken within a time-frame of a few minutes shows Akhilesh Yadav wearing black socks and not shoes, as claimed in the viral image. We also zoomed in on the viral image and can see Akhilesh Yadav with the same black socks.
