The day following the intensification of the Lok Sabha election campaign in Karnataka, a news snippet bearing the headline, “We don’t need Hindus, Muslims’ votes are enough” surfaced on social media, claiming that Siddaramaiah is exhibiting bias towards Muslims in various aspects, aiming to construct a narrative against him within the Hindu community.

The Facebook post reads: “If they don’t want us then why do we need Jai Hindus don’t vote Modi for slaves Our vote is our right Modi once again”.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be False.

We started our investigation by checking for the authenticity of the news clip but no such news report has been found in any local Kannada newspapers.

Searching further, we ran a keyword search and found a tweet by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in which he termed the news clip as fake and fabricated.

The Chief Minister has filed a police complaint against unknown individuals for allegedly creating a false news clip to incite communal tensions. He asserted that the fabrication, resembling a report from a Kannada newspaper, was instigated by those supported by a coalition of the BJP and JDS. This misinformation, designed to provoke communal discord, has been widely circulated on social media platforms.

He emphasized that the authorities possess information regarding the vested interests involved and assured that appropriate measures will be taken. Criticizing the deceptive tactics employed during elections, he condemned the intellectual bankruptcy of the BJP and JDS, urging vigilance against fake news. He reaffirmed the commitment to identify and prosecute the perpetrators and their supporters through lawful means.

Therefore, the assertion made in the claim is deemed false.
