After the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, a video claiming residents of Ayodhya and Barabanki celebrated Diwali on the loss of BJP in the constituency has gone viral on social media.
A Facebook user posted the viral post (archive link) with the following caption: अयोध्या और बाराबंकी में शानदार दिवाली मनाई गई जय श्री राम जय श्री कृष्ण कल अयोध्या और बाराबंकी में दिवाली मनाई गई। #ayodhya #Barabanki

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be fake.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team spotted a tweet on the official handle of Rajasthan Congress leader Kamal Sharma, dated January 14, 2023. The video matches with the viral clip, suggesting that it is from Jaipur.
We also came across a news article on Dainik Bhaskar carrying the same video. The article confirms that it is the fireworks in Jaipur after the kite show on Sakranti in January 2023.
We could not find any other video on any credible platform that corroborated the viral claim; and given that the video has been online since January 2023, it cannot be linked to the recently concluded Lok Sabha election results.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming residents of Ayodhya and Barabanki celebrated Diwali after the BJP’s loss in the constituency, is false.
