NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a news report, dated November 6, 2023, in Dhaka Post. The video attached to the report matches with the keyframes of the viral clip. The article states that the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina went to Saudi Arabia on a three-day official visit to participate in the International Conference on Women in Islam on November 6-8, 2023. During this visit, she performed the holy Umrah Hajj in Makkah on the morning of November 6 with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.
We found a similar video on the official channel of another Bangladeshi media outley — RTV News. Here too, we can see that the video shows Hasina in Saudi Arabia. Her attire in this video matches with the viral clip, too. This confirms that the video is from November 2023, and has nothing to do with Hasina leaving India after the Bangladesh coup.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Sheikh Hasina leaving India in a burqa, is false.
