Noticing the watermark of a TikTok profile @thebizzleeffect floating in the video, our NM team checked the TikTok profile from the same name and landed on a video, dated September 4, 2023. The video matches with the viral clip and the initial few seconds mention that the location of video is Kensington Areas.
Given that the TikTok bio of the user states the PO number of Philadelphia, USA, it is highly possible that the video is from US, not Canada.
Checking the video thoroughly for signs and landmarks in the clip, we could see “Allegheny Station” written on the wall at 00:38.
A Google search for the landmark confirms that it is a subway station in Philadelphia. It is located at the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny Avenues and H Street in the Kensington neighbourhood of Philadelphia.
Also, a news article in WHYY — a leading public media organisation in Philadelphia Region, dated June 16, 2021, carries a picture that looks like a front view angle of the keyframe from the viral video, confirming that the latter has been shot in Philadelphia, and not Canada.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming to show the dismal state of affairs in Canadian cities under Trudeau government, is false.
