FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
Using the InVid Tool and performing a Reverse Image Search, we traced a news report by Times Now, dated April 17, 2023, carrying the same viral video. “Bike riders on Karnataka Highway were forced to turn around in a panic after a leopard was spotted on Gadag Binkadakatti Road, NH 67, on Sunday night. A video of the sighting went viral, showing the leopard sitting on the road as a bus passed by, a two-wheeler rider came close to it, and a cop passed without noticing the big cat’s presence,” reads the report.
Other media reports describe that it occurred in the area of Binkadakatti, a village situated in the Gadag district of Karnataka. According to Hubli Express, the forest department had attempted to capture the leopard, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Based on the above information, it is clear that the incident actually occurred near Binkadakatti village in the Gadag district. It is around 420km away from Bangalore, according to Google Maps.
Thus, it is evident that a leopard was spotted near Binkadakatti village in the Gadag district, NOT on Bangalore-Bannerghatta Outer Ring Road.
