Fact Check: Does This Video Show Sri Ganganagar DC Performing A Rajasthani Dance? Here’s The Truth

Date:

The video of a woman dancing to a Rajasthani song in traditional clothes is going viral on social media, claiming that the woman is Rukmani Riar, District Collector of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

The post reads: The lady who is dancing is no ordinary woman, She is Rukmani Riyad, Collector of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Despite being an IAS Officer, she continues her link with the culture and tradition. This is India’s Civilisation assertion.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

We found the same video on a YouTube channel, named Rajasthani Online Media, dated December 2020. In the title, it has been clarified that the woman in the video is not the district collector of Sri Ganganagar.

The photograph of the woman dancing in the viral video also does not match with DC Rukmani Riar.

With a keyword search, we found a report by Patrika, dated October 2022, stating that the Rukmani Riar has been transferred to Hanumangarh district. As per the report, Saurabh Swamy is the new district collector of Sri Ganganagar.

According to the official website of Sri Ganganagar district, Saurabh Swamy is the new district collector of Sri Ganganagar

In 2022, NewsMobile had also debunked the same claim in Hindi. Our team had contacted Rukmani Riar, who confirmed that the woman in the video is not her.

Hence, it is clear that the video is being shared with a false claim.
