After Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 US presidential election, global leaders extended their congratulations, including Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in India, who posted a congratulatory message on X. Soon after, a screenshot began circulating on social media, claiming that Trump replied to Gandhi’s message, allegedly calling him an ‘agent of George Soros’ and ‘anti-national’.
Trump’s alleged reply reads: “Thank you Indian soros agent @RahulGandhi, but let’s be clear — someone who betrays their own country, aligning with anti-India elements like @georgesoros to undermine his homeland, cannot truly support America or my vision. Best to focus on your own affairs, Rahul.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim, and found it to be Misleading.
Upon closer inspection, the NM team observed that the alleged post originated from the X handle, @thedonaldtrumph, whereas Donald Trump’s official handle is: @realDonaldTrump. This discrepancy confirms that Trump did not make the viral statement.
Further investigation reveals that the @thedonaldtrumph handle is a parody account managed by Ashwini Sahay (@AshwiniSahaya).
The viral post was made by @thedonaldtrumph on November 06, 2024.

On scanning the account of Ashwini Sahay, we found a post dated November 6, 2024, which reads: “Hello, everyone! How are my replies to @thedonaldtrumph’s tweets to Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, @JustinTrudeau and Khalistanis? Some are claiming that this account is run by @thedonaldtrumph BJP IT cell, but I am definitely not a part of the IT cell. Still, I think I have caused more damage to Rahul Gandhi and Trudeau than any IT cell.”

Some people are claiming this account @thedonaldtrumph is run by the BJP IT Cell, but I’m definitely not part of the IT Cell.
Yet, I think I’ve done more…

Furthermore, the official X-handle of Donald Trump (@realDonaldTrump) does not carry any reply to Rahul Gandhi’s congratulatory X-post.
So, the above findings confirm that the viral claim of Donald Trump labelling Rahul Gandhi as an “agent of George Soros” and “anti-national” is MISLEADING.
