A video showing a news reporter saying that 50 people are trapped in a fire at one of India’s busiest shopping markets, Chandni Chowk, is doing the rounds on social media.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video and found it to be AI-generated.
Searching with relevant keywords, NewsMobile did not find any credible news sources corroborating the fire incident at Chandni Chowk. An incident of this magnitude definitely would have made major headlines nationally.
Additionally, performing a Reverse Image Search on the video keyframes, we did not find any matching visuals with legitimate sources. However, a closer inspection reveals the tell-tale signs of artificial generation — unnaturally smooth textures, robotic movements, and visual inconsistencies. Even Cantilux — a free online tool that detects AI-generated images and videos — finds the clip with a 89% probability of being AI-generated.
So in conclusion, we can say that the viral video claiming to show a fire in Chandni Chowk that has trapped 50 people is fake.
