A widely circulated claim on social media alleges that ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has passed away. As per the claim, Kohli reportedly died after sustaining an injury to a private part while playing.
The claim in Hindi with an image of Kohli reads: “बड़े दुःख के साथ केहना पड रहा है क्रिकेट के महान खिलाड़ी विराट कोहली अब इस दुनिया में नहीं रहे” (English translation: “It is with great sadness we announce that the great cricket player Virat Kohli is no more in this world.”)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.
Searching with keywords on Google, the NM team found no credible report corroborating the claim. Even the official social media handles of Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have not carried any statement about the demise of the cricketer.
Additionally, Virat Kohli appeared in a practice video posted by the BCCI on X on September 14, 2024. The video was from Chinnai when team India was practising ahead of the first test against Bangladesh starting September 19, 2024.

Notably, if the claim about Virat Kohli’s demise were true, BCCI would have issued a statement, and it would have been widely reported by major global news outlets.
Also, Tamil actor Radhika Sarathkumar on September 13, 2024 had shared an image with Kohli while flying from London to Chennai.
