A video of a news bulletin is making the rounds on social media, claiming that renowned cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan was murdered.
In the clip, the anchor states: “Dr Naresh Trehan was murdered. The scientist who had discovered a chemical combination that could cure diabetes. A simple baking soda recipe that every diabetic can easily prepare at home. His research could have freed the world from diabetes. But it was beneficial for the pharma companies that people remained sick.”
The video also includes a snippet of Dr. Trehan, where he appears to be giving an ‘easy cure’ for diabetes.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question, and found it to be AI-manipulated.
A Google keyword search did not yield any credible reports about Dr Trehan’s murder or demise. If such an incident had occurred, it would have been widely covered by the mainstream media.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, NewsMobile traced the original video on the official YouTube channel of India Today, dated June 01, 2022.
In the original video, Dr Trehan discusses heart disease in the aftermath of singer KK’s untimely death. In the entire video, he has not mentioned anything about the cure for diabetes.
A comparison between the viral and original videos shows that the footage is identical, except for the AI-generated voiceover and manipulated context in the viral clip. The original news bulletin does not mention diabetes, pharma companies, or a secret cure.
Thus, we can conclude by saying that the viral video claiming that Dr. Naresh Trehan was murdered has been digitally manipulated.
