A viral image circulating on social media claims to depict the recent explosion of solar panels in Lebanon, that left multiple people dead and thousands injured.
A Facebook user posted the image with a caption: *Lebanon:* Sabotaged solar panels have started significant electrical fires. Over 500 individuals have been reported injured so far.

Putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found a report titled “Solar energy…fires and explosions”, dated July 21, 2023. The report discusses a rise in fire incidents involving solar panels and related components like inverters and batteries in various areas of Lebanon.

Another post on X, shared by the Fire Safety Research Institute on January 10, 2020, features a similar image. Additionally, we found another report from December 2019, which also carried the same image.

Notably, the image predates the recent explosions in Lebanon. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the image in question does not depict the recent explosions of solar panels in Lebanon.
