FACT CHECK
NewsNobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be False.
Closely analysing the images, the NM team identified several peculiar details typically associated with AI-generated images. Moreover, it is biologically impossible for a human to survive with such elongated necks.
We also conducted a Reverse Image Search to uncover background information about the viral images, but found no credible articles or sources.
Searching with relevant keywords, we came across an article from the Guinness Book of World Records, which mentions that the longest human necks are found among women of the Padaung tribe, residing in the highlands of north-western Thailand and south-eastern Myanmar. Padaung women wear heavy brass rings around their necks, which reshape their neck and shoulders. By adding these hoops, they can extend their necks up to 19.7 cm, with an average height of 165 cm.
To verify further, we ran the images through the AI detection tool Hive Moderation, which revealed that the images were 93.3% AI-generated.
Thus, it is clear that the viral images are not real but AI-generated.
