As the netizens’ skepticism about the video hints at a possible deepfake, it needs to be verified.
The video has also been uploaded to multiple YouTube channels, claiming it to be actress Rashmika Mandanna.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be a deepfake of Rashmika Mandanna.
Closely examining the viral clip, the NM team identified several inconsistencies, such as an unusual facial glitch, unnatural eye movements, and a lack of clarity in facial features.
Putting the video keyframes through a Reverse Image Search, we also found a similar post on Instagram by Daniela Villarreal, a model and digital creator from Spain, dated April 19, 2024. Interestingly, this post features the same video as the viral one, but with Daniela’s face replaced digitally with Mandanna’s face.
Given below is the comparison between the real image and deepfake.

It’s not the first time Rashmika Mandanna has been targeted by deepfakes. In November 2023, a similar incident stirred up the Internet when Mandanna’s face was digitally altered to an Instagram video by a British-Indian woman named Zara Patel. India’s Information Technology Minister had condemned these deepfake videos as a dangerous threat to information security.
Thus, it’s clear that the viral video featuring Rashmika Mandanna is, indeed, a deepfake.
