FACT CHECK
NewsMobile has fact-checked the claim and found it to be misleading.
We conducted a keyword search and found no credible reports confirming the discontinuation of the ₹10 coin. On the contrary, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has consistently maintained that all coins issued by the Government of India and the RBI remain valid legal tender.
According to a report dated March 25, 2025, the RBI reiterated that ₹10 coins continue to be fully legal and should be accepted without hesitation for transactions.
Earlier, in an article published by The Hindu on August 7, 2024, the RBI clarified that all ₹10 coins—regardless of their design variations—are legal tender. It further urged all banks to continue accepting these coins at all branches for exchange and transactions.
We also checked the official RBI website, where the ₹10 coin is still listed as legal tender currently in circulation. The site details the coin’s features and does not mention any plans to withdraw it.
Additionally, we have reached out to the RBI for an official statement and will update this report once we receive a response.
In conclusion, the ₹10 coin is not being discontinued. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false and misleading.
