Fact Check: No, Government Is Not Offering Rs 5,000 Cash Via Banner With PM Modi’s Photo

Date:

A banner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s picture is being widely circulated on social media, claiming that the government is giving a cash reward of ₹5,000. The banner, which carries the logos of the BJP and PhonePe, is attached with a suspicious link, directing users to a website to claim the alleged reward.

The claim in Bangla reads: ফুলের উপর ক্লিক করুন এবং সরকারের কাছ থেকে পুরষ্কার পান।
₹5000 ট্রাস্ট (English version: “Click on the flower and get a reward from the government. ₹5,000 Trust.”)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be completely false.

The NM team examined the suspicious URL embedded in the post —
https://wh1448961.ispot.cc/bengali/?fbclid=... , and found that the site uses official-sounding names, logos of the BJP and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, along with photos of PM Modi and BJP President JP Nadda, to mislead users.

However, a thorough check of the official websites and verified social media accounts of the Government of India, the BJP, and associated ministries reveals no such announcement or scheme offering ₹5,000 cash to citizens.

NewsMobile had previously debunked similar fraudulent schemes linked to reputed brands like Amazon, Flipkart, TATA Group and Hermès. These scams often use clickbait-style visuals and fake endorsements to trick users into clicking malicious links, risking data theft or financial fraud.

So in conclusion, we can say that the viral banner claiming the government is offering ₹5,000 via a link is fake.
