A video is being widely shared on social media in which a group of African nationals are seen playing music and while those belonging to the Indian community are dancing to the beats. The video is being widely shared with a claim that it shows Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in South Africa.
The video is being shared with a caption that reads, “Auspicious Celebrations of Ganesh chaturthi in South Africa !”

Times Now had also reported about the video. However, it said that the video is not dated.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image, we found the same video was uploaded by a YouTube channel on September 8, 2017, with a caption that read, “This is African Style of celebrating Ganesh Festival…. Shree Ganesh Temple, Entebbe, Uganda.”
Anupam Kher had also tweeted the video on September 13, 2018, with a caption that read: “This is MAGICAL !!!! Shree Ganesh Temple in Entebbe, Uganda celebrates #GaneshUtsav with the chants of #GanpatiBappaMorya. Listen to the sound of drums and the expressions on the faces of the people who are playing them. #GanpatiBappaMorya #MoryaRaBappaMoryaRe.”
Amar Ujala also uploaded the video on September 13, 2018, mentioning that the video was of celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in Entebbe, Uganda.
Thus, it is clear that the the viral claim is misleading.
