A video of few women talking about working as an employee and then working at home is doing the rounds on social media. In the video, a woman, while sweeping, says that she works there for 10 hours and then goes home and works. To this, another woman taunts her about this ‘double duty’. The video is followed by a clip of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi talking about the Mahalakshmi scheme.
The Congress’ Mahalakshmi scheme aims to “provide ₹1 lakh per year to every poor Indian family as an unconditional cash transfer. The poor will be identified among the families in the bottom of the income pyramid”.
The viral video is shared with a caption: “Congress party has released a brilliant campaign video on Mahalakshmi Scheme. It shows the struggle of women & how #MahalakshmiScheme will transform their lives This video should be played during IPL ads & TV breaks for mass impact Nari Nyay. #INDIAKiAandhi #congress.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.
Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found the same video on the YouTube channel of Prega News, dated February 19, 2022, with a title: “Celebrate Women’s Day 2022 With Prega News | #SheCanCarryBoth | Sayantani Ghosh.”
The description reads: “Being a mom is extremely rewarding, but does that ever take a toll on your ambitions and dreams? This Women’s Day with Prega News, it’s time to break free from the nay-sayers of society and bring in confidence to women that #SheCanCarryBoth! #PregaNews #GoodNews #WomensDay #InternationalWomensDay #Woman #Mother #Freedom #CareerWoman #Motherhood.”
This proves that the video in circulation is an old Women’s Day campaign by Prega News, a company that curates pregnancy-related products.
On searching further, we found that Congress shared an ad campaign promoting the Mahalakshmi scheme in April 2024. However, that advertisement doesn’t resemble the viral video in circulation.
Thus, we can conclusively say that the ad campaign video of the Congress party has gone viral with false claims.
