Amid the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, an image purportedly showing a Time magazine cover depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin as Adolf Hitler. Social media users are sharing the image with captions suggesting that it is the ‘new cover of Time magazine.’
A Facebook user shared the image with the caption, “New cover of Time magazine. The nazism was cruel, comunizm was more cruel and this hybrid is the most cruel. (sic)”
The image is also being shared on Twitter with the same claim.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral image and found it to be altered.
We checked Time Magazine’s website and its social media handles. The latest edition of Time magazine was released on March 3, 2022. The cover image features the words spoken by the Ukrainian President in a speech to the European Parliament on March 1: “Life will win over death, and light will win over darkness.”
The earlier TIME cover was shared on February 25 and it showed a tank with military forces on it followed by a text which read, “The Return of History.”
On checking further, we found a tweet by a user named Patrick Mulder. He shared the viral purported Time magazine cover and wrote, “My TIME artwork has gone viral – so I thought it would be appropriate for me to write a little about it. The image is one out of a sequence of three I created on the day Russia invaded Ukraine. I felt the official cover by TIME was uninspired and lacked conviction.”
Mulder also shared a video clip explaining how he created the cover.
Therefore, with the above information, it can be concluded that the viral Time magazine cover is altered.
