Ahead of the G20 summit in India, an image of a hoarding showing PM Narendra Modi’s popularity rating as compared to other world leaders is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that such hoardings have been placed at different locations in Delhi for the G20 guests to see.
The image is being shared with a caption: “What a unique way of welcoming guests of #G20Bharat. #G20Delhi.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found the image to be old.
Running the image through a Reverse Image Search, the NM team spotted the same image in a report by The Diplomat with a caption taken in April 2023.

We also found the same image on AP Images, shared with the text, “An office-goer on a bicycle rides past a huge hoarding showing Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s popularity among world leaders being the highest, in New Delhi, India, Thursday, April 6, 2023. The fact-checking unit of the Press Information Bureau also clarified that the image is old and the hoarding is not related to G20.
Thus, from the above fact check, it is clear that the image is old and the claim attached to it is misleading.
