We performed a keyword search that directed us to a video news report uploaded by the The Times of India on December 10, 2018, that carried the same viral video. The video description read: “Eve-teasing and cat-calling is a social evil which countless young girls and women have to suffer in our country on a daily basis. But, a group of female students from Baghpat’s Dharam Singh inter-college were too fed up with the menace that they decided to take matters into their hands. In the video which has gone viral on social media, the girls who have covered their faces can be seen thrashing a man with sticks after he harassed them.”
Searching further, we found video news reports published by The Quint and India Today that reported the same incident in 2018 and carried the same viral video.
