Fact Check: Video From Srinagar In J-K Falsely Shared As ‘Tricolour March in Balochistan’

Date:

A video showing a large group of people waving a massive Indian tricolour during a flag march is doing the rounds on social media. It is claimed that the visuals are from Balochistan following India’s recent Operation Sindoor in Pakistan.

The caption in Bangla reads: বালুচস্থানে আজ ভারতীয় পতাকা নিয়ে ভারত জয়ের ত্রিরাঙ্গা যাত্রা হচ্ছে দেখুন । (English version: “See the Tricolour Yatra of India Victory held in Balochistan today with the Indian flag.”)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question and found the claim to be misleading.

Running the video keyframes using the InVid verification tool, the NM team traced the same video posted on Facebook, dated April 23, 2025, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Facebook post identified the location as Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

Searching further, we identified multiple similar visuals and reports, dated January 30, 2025, showing a Tiranga Yatra organised by the ABVP, the student wing of BJP, in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk. The video in question matches footage from this event. (These reports can be seen here, here and here)

So in conclusion, we can say that the video from Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, has been fictitiously shared as a ‘Tricolour March in Balochistan’.
