On May 15, 2025, a massive fire broke out in the library of Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce in Northwest Delhi’s Pitampura. The blaze was reportedly triggered by a short circuit in the server room. The section of the library, housing hundreds of volumes of old books, were completely destroyed.
In this context, a video has gone viral showing a large building engulfed in flames, claiming that it shows the devastating fire at Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce.

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false.
Upon closely analysing the viral video, we noticed a “TRT Haber” watermark in the right corner. A keyword search detects the TRT Haber’s verified Instagram account, which regularly posts viral international news content. While scrolling through the page, we found the viral video in question, which was shared with a caption stating that it shows a fire that broke out at a hotel building in Alanya, Turkey, dated January 27, 2025.

Further investigation revealed multiple media reports, including those by DuvaR. English and Mehr News, featuring screenshots from the same video, dated January 26, 2025. According to these reports, the video captures a massive fire that broke out at a hotel under construction in the Alanya district of southern Turkey’s Antalya province on January 27. The fire erupted at the 12-storey building construction site while workers were present. The fire was reportedly caused by a welding flame and although the workers attempted to control it, they were unsuccessful.
Fortunately, there were no casualties, and all workers were safely evacuated.
We also found the same visuals on the YouTube channel of Anadolu Agency, uploaded on January 27, 2025.
Hence, the viral video showing the massive fire is not from the Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce library in Delhi, but Turkey.
