Date:

A video of actor Ayushmann Khurrana singing Dil Dil Pakistan is widely shared on social media. Many users have mocked him for this song, describing: “The clown Ayushmann Khurrana was singing Dil Dil Pakistan when Pakistanis were killing our soldiers & innocent citizens. No wonder he’s so upset to see #RamMandir. The reason why I don’t trust most of these Bollywoodiyas. They can even sell their mothers for money. What to do with this third-class Bollywood actor? #BoycottAyushmannKhurrana”.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.

With a keyword search, our team found an extended version of the video uploaded on an unverified channel Selfie TV with a title: “Ayushmann Khurrana giving tribute to all Asian countries through his Punjabi singing in Dubai”, uploaded on November 20, 2017. In the video, Khurrana, along with his brother Aparshakti, sings a Bollywood song. They then acknowledge people from various states and regions, including Punjabi, UP, Bengali, and South India. In a gesture towards their Pakistani friends, Ayushmann sings the song Dil Dil Pakistan. Subsequently, the duo performs the well-known Hindi song Chak De India.’

A Gulf News report highlights that Indian actor Ayushmann Khurrana and Pakistani actor Ali Zafar were slated to perform together at Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium on October 27, 2017.

Ayushmann Khurrana shared a snapshot from the concert on his official Facebook account on October 28, 2017, with a caption: “When your sibling goes berserk with you onstage. Aparshakti Khurana #dubai #gig.”

Those sharing the video have taken a snippet out of context, failing to acknowledge the actor’s mention of people from various regions in India and his performance of the song Chak De India. Moreover, among other Bollywood celebrities, Ayushmann Khurrana also attended the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Thus, we can conclusively say that the viral claim is MISLEADING.
