FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
Performing a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, the NM team detected a YouTube video uploaded by Malayalam News channel Manorama News, dated October 13, 2021. The clip details the rescue of a dog trapped in mud after landslides caused by heavy rains. Out of six puppies, only two survived. This incident took place near Palakkad in Kerala, and the video clearly predates the recent Wayanad landslides.
Another news report by The News Minute, dated October 14, 2021, also described about the rescue of a dog and her two puppies in a village near Kanjirathani, Kumaranelloor, Palakkad district, following a minor landslide. The report included a link to the Manorama News video.
A report by the New Indian Express confirms that the rescue took place in the Palakkad district. The report included a frame from the viral video showing the dog being sheltered after the rescue.
Thus, we can conclusively say that an old video from Palakkad, Kerala, has been falsely attributed to the recent Wayanad landslides.
