FACT CHECKÂ
NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be old.
With a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on the YouTube channel of Sky News, uploaded on August 4, 2020 with a title: RAW VIDEO: Beirut blast caught on camera.
we also found similar visuals in a video report by Al Arabiya English, where they had compiled videos of the same explosion from different angles.
According to the report, on August 4, 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate exploded in Beirut’s port, resulting in the death of more than 217 people and leaving 7,000 injured. As many as 3,00,000 people were left temporarily homeless and the blast damaged buildings up to 20km away.
Hence, it is clear that the video was taken in 2020 in Beirut, Lebanon, and not related to the recent earthquake in Turkey.
