A video showing a police officer using offensive language and allegedly threatening a man in public has gone viral on social media. Many users claim it is related to the recent triple murder case in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh. The clip is being linked to the murder of farmer leader Vinod alias Pappu Singh, his son Abhay Singh, and his brother Anoop Singh, suggesting it’s a confrontation between Pappu Singh and police before the fatal incident.

Extracting the viral video keyframes using the InVid tool and analysing through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found the original clip on the verified X (formerly Twitter) account of Fatehpur-based journalist Swami Sony Live. The footage was posted on May 6, 2021. It was shot in Akhri village under the Hathgam police station jurisdiction, where a dispute broke out between the local Station Officer (SO) and the then-village pradhan over a construction-related issue.

Another news report by Amar Ujala, dated May 6, 2021, also confirms that the disagreement revolved around the construction of a drain in the village, which escalated into a verbal altercation. Pappu Singh accused the SO of acting under the influence of a former village head and harassing him. In response, Inspector Aditya Pratap Singh denied the use of abusive language and maintained that he had only advised Singh to take any complaints to the proper administrative channel.
Meanwhile, the official X account of the Fatehpur Police has issued a clarification, dated April 10, 2025, in response to a user query. The department confirms that the viral video dates back nearly four years and has no connection to the current triple murder case. This statement was reinforced by a Navbharat Times report published the same day, which detailed the brutal murder of Pappu Singh and his family members, confirming that it occurred in broad daylight in Akhri village but without reference to the old video.
