A video of a scuffle between a few men in what appears to be a meeting or a conference room is doing rounds on social media. The post claims that a BJP member was beaten with shoes for speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a ministerial meet in India.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be misleading.
We extracted keyframes from the video and ran it through Reverse Image Search. We found that the same video was shared by a journalist in 2019.

Based on this, we ran a keyword search and found a NewsMobile report dated March 6, 2019. The report established that the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar, about 200 km from state capital Lucknow where BJP MP Sharad Tripathi and BJP MLA Rakesh Singh got involved in a scuffle.
According to the report, the two lawmakers were arguing over the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project.
