Putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found a post on X, dated September 30, 2020, featuring the same image as the viral one.
The post’s caption states that Arijit was protesting against the brutal gang rape of a 19-year-old girl. While we could not find any reports to verify the accuracy of this caption, it is clear that the image predates the RG Kar Medical College rape case, which occurred on August 9, 2024.

Our team found a Facebook post featuring the same video, dated June 24, 2024, indicating that the video also predates the RG Kar rape case.
