FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running the Reverse Image Search of the visual, our team traced the viral photo to a report in Maharashtra Times, dated May 3, 2022. The report highlighted that Shiv Sena MLC Ambadas Danve had shared the image on Facebook as part of an old agitation, mocking BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. Danve posted it after Fadnavis claimed that no Shiv Sainiks were present in Ayodhya during the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992.
Additionally, a Loksatta report from the same date corroborates these findings. The report stated that the image allegedly shows Fadnavis running during a lathi charge at an old protest but did not claim the photo was from 1992. Crucially, neither report identified the person running alongside Fadnavis as Eknath Shinde.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show a picture of Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde as karsewaks on the day of the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, is false.
