FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be a scam.
A keyword search found no official announcement, government notification, press release, or credible media report about any such nationwide smartphone distribution scheme. A programme of this scale would have received extensive coverage across mainstream media and official channels.
On analysing the video closely, we found clear signs of AI-generated manipulation — including mismatched lip movements, synthetic audio, and unnaturally smooth facial expressions inconsistent with real speech.
To further verify, we ran the clip through Hive Moderation’s AI-detection tool, which confirmed that the footage had been digitally altered.

The claim circulating online is fabricated. The viral video is AI-generated and misleading.
