FACT CHECK

NewsMobil fact-checked the viral claim, and found it to be false.

Firstly, on clicking the link attached with the text, it directed to a questionable website. The domain reads (https://indiafact.in/) and is nowhere related to the BJP (https://www.bjp.org/) or PM Modi’s official website (https://www.narendramodi.in/). This raised out doubts about the authenticity of the claim.

The landing page of the link asked users to click on the ‘Get Free Recharge’ button which after a loading animation would ask for the SIM carrier and the mobile number.

Upon putting any number, another set of loading animations, the pop-up would ask the users to share the same message on WhatsApp to 10 people or groups.

This confirmed that the message in question is to generate clicks on the website (https://indiafact.in/).

The NewsMobile fact-check team ran a keyword search on Google, but found no authentic article supporting the claim of PM Modi or BJP offering free recharge. PM Modi or BJP did not even post any such offer on any of their social media handles.

Meanwhile, on June 8, 2024, the Central government’s fact-checking unit, PIB Fact Check, in an X-post also clarified that the Government of India is not providing any free recharge.

Hence, it can be concluded that the viral post, claiming that PM Modi is offering free mobile recharge on BJP forming the new government is false.
