The post reads: अब एक फ़ोन में 2 सिम यूज़ करने पर TRAI लगाएगा जुर्माना! यह चार्ज एकमुश्क या सालाना आधार पर लिया जा सकता है, ये कैसा विकास है! (English translation: TRAI will impose a fine for using two SIMs in one phone! This fine can be made in one go or on an annual basis, what kind of development is this!)

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found the claim to be false.
With a keyword search, the NM team found a post on X by the official verified account of TRAI, refuting the viral claim. “The speculation that TRAI intends to impose charges on customers for holding multiple SIMs/ numbering resources is unequivocally false. Such claims are unfounded and serve only to mislead the public.”
According to the TRAI press release, they have clarified that the claims are unfounded. “In this regard, it has come to our attention that some media houses (print, electronic, and social media) have reported that TRAI has proposed introducing fees for mobile and landline numbers with the aim of ensuring the efficient allocation and use of these ‘finite resources’. The speculation that TRAI intends to impose charges on customers for holding multiple SIMs/numbering resources is unequivocally false. Such claims are unfounded and serve only to mislead the public.”
Thus, it is clear that the viral claim is false.
