Following the demise of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, a tweet — dated September 1, 2021 — has gone viral mentioning that the Queen had requested Manchester United football club to reserve the first shirt to be signed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The tweet by a verified Twitter handle by the name ‘The United Stand’ (@UnitedStandMUFC) attributed the claim to Sport Innovation Society (@sis).
The tweet reads: “Queen Elizabeth has personally requested that #mufc reserve the first shirt to be signed by Cristiano Ronaldo, meaning Ronaldo becomes the only human being Queen Elizabeth has asked for an autograph. [@sis]”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.
We googled the viral claim, but could not find any credible report. It is to be noted that given the craze for football, Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo in the UK, it would have been covered by all the prominent British news outlets if the Queen had made such a request.
Closely going through the original tweet by @UnitedStandMUFC, we found a reply on the same tweet by Sport Innovation Society (@sis), dated September 2, 2021, clarifying that as they could not verify the news, the tweet had to be deleted.
The original tweet by SIS has also been deleted later.
Hence, we can conclude that the viral claim of the Queen requesting Ronaldo’s signed Manchester United jersey is false.
