A video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is being widely shared online, claiming that he admitted to pushing Members of Parliament (MPs), allegedly resulting in injuries to two BJP leaders. Many BJP leaders said that Gandhi confessed to pushing BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi during a scuffle in Parliament. The altercation came amidst the ongoing protests in the Parliament premises over remarks made by Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr. BR Ambedkar.
In the viral clip, Gandhi is heard saying in Hindi, “No, no. See, see! Yes, yes, I did it. But it’s okay. Such pushing doesn’t bother me.”
The caption accompanying the viral video reads: “After admitting to manhandling, Shri Rahul Gandhi shamelessly dismisses his aggressive behaviour by saying ‘nothing happens with a push’. It’s shameful that he downplays an incident that has caused a head injury to a senior MP and two MPs being hospitalised, all due to his actions. Arrogance runs in the veins of the Gandhi family.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
Running the viral video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team detected an extended version of the clip shared on the official X handle of ANI, dated December 19, 2024. In the report, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is quoted saying, “This might be on your camera. I was trying to enter through the Parliament entrance, but BJP MPs were blocking me, pushing, and threatening me. So, this happened… Yes, it did happen (Mallikarjun Kharge being pushed). However, we are not affected by such jostling. This is the Parliament entrance, and we have the right to enter. The central issue here is that they are attacking the Constitution and dishonouring the memory of Ambedkar Ji.”

The ANI report had also highlighted the same details and made no mention of Rahul Gandhi openly admitting to pushing BJP MPs or causing harm during the scuffle. Instead, he was seen defending himself against the allegations.
Hence, the viral clip’s claim that Rahul Gandhi admitted to pushing BJP MPs is misleading.
