In the video, Athawale is seen talking to a journalist and repeating the word ‘budget’ in a strange way several times. Throughout the video, he just says ‘Nice Budget’, and ‘Best Budget’. Users are sharing the video claiming it to be Athawale’s reaction to the recent 2024 budget.
A Facebook user posted the viral post (archive link) with the following caption:

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be misleading.
Running a Google Keyword Search around Athawale’s reaction to the budget led us to a YouTube video published on the official channel of Sansad TV on February 1, 2019. In the video, the reporter can be seen asking Athawale for a reaction to the interim budget presented by Piyush Goyal. Then Athawale repeats the word ‘budget’ several times in praise of the budget. But not as many times as seen in the viral video.
It is clear from this video that the viral clip is old and edited. We found this video published on News18 on February 2, 2019. Here too we can see that the video is from 2019 when an interim budget was presented by Piyush Goyal.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show MoS Ramdas Athawale’s reaction to the 2024 budget, is misleading.
