FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question, and found it to be a deepfake.
Putting the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team detected the original video uploaded on the verified YouTube channel of Moneycontrol on July 7, 2023, showing Sudha Murthy speaking about the wives of entrepreneurs.
Upon analysing both the original and viral videos meticulously, we identified many similar visuals. However, at no point in the original video does Sudha Murthy mention about any investment app.
Additionally, the deepfake tool — TrueMedia’s deepfake detector — reveals significant signs of manipulation with a 97% confidence score, indicating AI-generated audio or cloning. It also detected AI-driven alterations to the faces of up to 76% in the video, strongly suggesting the use of deepfake technology.
So, we can conclusively say that the viral video circulating on social media is digitally manipulated using deepfake technology with false narratives.
