One of the viral video shows a fire truck flipping over while making a turn. Many users claim that the footage shows an Israeli fire department vehicle that recently overturned while responding to the ongoing wildfires near Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly appealed for international assistance amid the crisis.

Searching with relevant keywords like ‘Vigili Del Fuoco’, which means ‘Firefighters’ in Italian script, the NM team found that the vehicle belongs to Italy’s fire services. Using Google Translate, we found an extended version of the same video uploaded by the Italian YouTube channel, Local Team, on July 2, 2018. The video’s Italian title indicated that the incident took place in Melegnano, a town in the Milan region of Italy.
Several Italian media outlets had also reported on the incident in July 2018. According to these reports, the fire truck overturned on July 1, 2018, during a training exercise. The crash occurred when the water tanker lost control, resulting in injuries to two firefighters.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming footage shows an Israeli fire department vehicle that recently overturned while responding to the ongoing wildfires near Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, is false.
