FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be misleading.
Running the image through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found a report featuring the same picture. The report by Hindustan Times, dated July 10, 2022, is titled: “President’s house or tourist spot? Sri Lanka protesters relax in bedrooms, work out in gym | Watch.”
According to the report, the image shows protesters resting on former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s bed at the President’s House in Colombo, after they took over the official residence.
According to a report by Reuters, dated July 15, 2022, featuring the similar image, Sri Lankans occupied key government buildings and residences following an uprising that forced President Rajapaksa to flee the country and eventually resign.
Thus, it is confirmed that the viral image showing the bedroom is NOT of the ousted Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, BUT Sri Lankan ex-President Rajapaksa.
