A picture of a newly tarred road and children cycling on it without shoes is doing the rounds on social media. Many users claim it to be from a village in UP.
A Facebook user posted the viral post (archive link) with the following caption:
യുപിയിലെ ഉൾ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിർമിച്ച റോഡ് , ആദ്യമായി ടാറിട്ട റോഡ് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ പാദരക്ഷ അഴിച്ചു മാറ്റി റോഡിൽ മണ്ണ് ആവാതെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്ന ഗ്രാമവാസികൾ… (English translation: The road built in an inner village in UP. When they saw the tarred road for the first time, the villagers took off their footwear, so that the road doesn’t become soil…)

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image search of the picture, the NM team found a news report by Coconut Jakarta, an Indonesian media organisation. The article carries similar pictures, informing that it is from a village in Central Lampung, Indonesia. The news, published on August 29, 2018, included another picture of children playing there along with the viral picture.
Another Indonesian media outlet, Brilio, has also published an article showing children taking off their shoes while playing on the newly tarred road. As per the report, the picture was from the Bumi Ratu Nuban sub-district in the Central Lampung region.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming children playing on a newly built road is from Indonesia, NOT Uttar Padesh.
