FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

A Reverse Image Search of the viral video from a screenshot revealed the same clip on a verified X handle, The Siasat Daily. The video was shared on November 15, over a month ago, with the claim that the tiger was spotted in the Khanapur forest in Tamil Nadu.

This claim was later echoed by various media outlets, including TV9 Telugu and Zee News Telugu, which also stated that the tiger was seen in the forests of Khanapur in Nirmal district, Tamil Nadu.

Further investigation led to the same video being found on the News 18 Kannada YouTube channel, uploaded on November 8. According to this source, the tiger was spotted near the Gopalaswamy temple in Karnataka.

Although the precise location of the tiger sighting remains unclear, it is evident that the video has been circulating on social media since November 8, 2024. Meanwhile, the tiger scare in Purulia began only around December 20, 2024.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show a video of a tiger spotted in Bandwan, Purulia, is false.
