FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
Running the viral video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced a Bangla media report on KalBela, dated December 6, 2024, saying the farmer seen crying over the burned crops was identified as Nasim Mia, ruling out any communal angle.
According to the report, the incident occurred on the night of December 4 at Lakshmipur field in Piarpur village, Kushtia Sadar, Bangladesh. In that village, Nasim Mia had leased three bighas of land for paddy cultivation. While the perpetrators remained unidentified, Kushtia police station in-charge, Shihabur Rahman, said, “Our team visited the site. It appears that the field was deliberately set on fire. The matter is under investigation.”
A similar report was also published by Channel 24 and The News, dated December 5, 2024.
We also came across a video report on the Kushtia fire incident on the YouTube channel of Desh TV, dated December 6, 2024, titled “Miscreants set fire to farmer’s paddy with petrol at night | Kushtia | News | Desh TV”, rejecting any communal angle.
Thus, we can conclusively say that the clip claiming to show Hindus’ crop field being burned in Bangladesh is viral with false communal angle.
