FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found the claims to be false.
A Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes identifies an Instagram account named Its China baby, which shared the same video on February 16. The post stated that the footage was from the sixteenth day of the first month of the Chinese New Year, confirming that the video predates Holi (March 14).
Further investigation led us to multiple similar videos describing the fireworks as part of the Chaozhou Spring Festival celebrations in China’s Guangdong province. One such YouTube video from February 14 showed the same fireworks from a different angle, revealing buildings with Mandarin text on their signboards, further verifying the location.
As per news reports, Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, lasts for 15 days and is celebrated with parades, cultural activities, and fireworks. The 2025 Chinese New Year celebrations began on January 29 and ended on February 12 with the Lantern Festival. Fireworks displays were held in several provinces, including Guangdong and Jiangxi, making it evident that the viral clip is from China’s New Year celebrations and not Holi in China.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Holi celebrations in China, is false.
