FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be false.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team traced an old post on X (formerly Twitter), dated August 15, 2019, featuring the same interview snippet.
Visual cues in the clip indicated that it was aired on Geo News, a Pakistani news channel. While we could not verify the full video on Geo News‘ official YouTube page due to access restrictions in India, further searches revealed key details.
The person speaking in the clip is Mushahid Hussain, a Pakistani politician and journalist. The programme is identified as ‘Jirga’, hosted by Saleem Safi, who is also seen in the video. Safi, however, did not share this interview at the time on his X handle.
A news report by India Today, dated 12 August 2019, confirms that the interview took place in the aftermath of India’s abrogation of Article 370, which removed Jammu & Kashmir’s special status. In the interview, Mushahid Hussain claimed that public figures like Arundhati Roy, Mamata Banerjee, and parties such as the Congress, Communist, and Dalit parties are “sympathisers of Pakistan”, adding, “All of India is not with Modi”.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral clip, claiming Pakistani journalists are commenting on how some Indians don’t support PM Modi, is fake.
