FACT CHECKÂ
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be False.
The NM team conducted a keyword search to verify the claim, and found no official announcement on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) website regarding the issuance of a ₹10,000 coin. According to the RBI’s annual report, the coins currently in circulation include denominations of 50 paise, ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, and ₹20. Currency in circulation comprises coins, banknotes, and central bank digital currency (CBDC).
At present, the banknotes in circulation are available in denominations of ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500, and ₹2000. However, the RBI has discontinued the printing of ₹2, ₹5, and ₹2000 notes. As stated on the RBI website, coins are minted by the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) at four facilities located in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Noida, and are then circulated by the RBI.
Analysing the image further using an AI image detection tool — Hive Moderation — we came to know that the image was artificially generated.
Hence, we can conclusively say that the viral image, claiming launching of ₹10,000 coin by RBI, is AI-generated.
