Recently a video, claiming that an elderly Muslim man was brutally beaten due to his religion, following another incident of a 72-year-old man being attacked over beef in Maharashtra, is being widly circulated on social media. In the viral clip, an elderly man in white attire is repeatedly slapped by another individual, who also removes his glasses and throws them on the ground.
(English translation: This coward is a very low and degraded person, how is he beating an old man, breaking his spectacles, not seen beard cap that the devil inside is awake! Such people will be doing the same thing with their parents at home, they will be raised in old age homes! Delhi Police should investigate and arrest this coward immediately.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search, the NM team found that the video was not from India, but Barguna in Bangladesh. Another report from the Bangladeshi news site ‘itvbd’, dated September 9, 2024, details that the elderly man in the video is Abdur Rashid, a former district commander of the ‘Muktiyodha Sansad’ — a Bangladeshi organisation consisting of veterans from the 1971 Liberation War. Rashid was assaulted by a man named Shaon Molla, son of a former district president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, due to an old rivalry. Molla accused Rashid of theft and fraud, which led to the physical altercation. Rashid later filed a police complaint against Molla.
The Dhaka Tribune also reported on the incident, further clarifying that the video is from Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi media outlet Jamuna TV also shared the viral video, confirming that the incident stemmed from personal grievances, not religious motives. Conversations in Bengali can be heard in the video, where Molla accuses Rashid of abusing his power and harassing members of his political party.
Thus, we can conclusively say that this video from Bangladesh has gone viral as an incident in India with communal flavour.
