Date:

Amid severe flooding in Gujarat due to heavy rains, a video of people rescuing flood victims is circulating on social media, claiming that it is a grave situation in Gujarat.

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “गुजरात मे बाढ़ पीड़ितों की मदद करते हुए आप मुस्लिम भाई है || क्योकि चमचो को तो बस मुह चलाना है और रैली निकालना हिन्दू मुस्लिम करना है अब मदद करने के उन नफतियों में से कोई नही आएगा || #BreakingNews #shahrukhkhan #sidhumoosewala #sidhumoosewalanewsong” (See below.👇)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Putting the viral video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced the video to a Bangladeshi Facebook user, MH Fahad Mondol, who had uploaded it on August 25, 2024. The post confirms that the video was shot in Bangladesh, where madrasa students were helping people affected by flood.

Further keyword searches led to the official YouTube channel of Ahle Hadith Movement, an Islamic organisation in Bangladesh, which shared the same video on August 25, 2024. The accompanying information corroborated that madrasa students waded through floodwaters to provide assistance to victims.

The same video had been carried on multiple YouTube channels with similar details, including a channel called Learn It Now, which also featured footage of people helping flood victims in Bangladesh.

Thus, it is evident that the video circulating as flood relief efforts in Gujarat is actually from Bangladesh.
