FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team detected a YouTube video on the official channel of Guardian News, dated January 12, 2024. According to its description, it’s a drone footage showing Houthi sympathisers demonstrating against the US and Britain in Sana’a, capital of Yemen, on January 12, 2024, in protest against the air strikes on Houthi rebels’ targets. The viral picture looks like one of the keyframes of this video.
Searching further, we came across a video bulletin in France24, showing a similar video. One of the video keyframes matches with the viral picture, confirming that millions of people in Yemen protested against the US and British attacks on Houthi rebel targets.
Reuters, too, published a similar picture to show the protest in its news report.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show the funeral procession of Ismail Haniya in Tehran, is false.
